  1. Current students from Mizoram University and its Affiliated Colleges, pursuing Sem II/Sem III/ Sem IV.

Learning Outcomes:


After the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the fundamentals of computerized accounting, its importance, applications, and compare it with manual accounting, including the features of various accounting packages.
  2. Master the creation and management of financial records such as companies, groups, ledgers, vouchers, and the preparation of financial reports and statements in computerized systems.
  3. Develop skills in managing accounts with inventory, including the creation and management of stock categories, items, godowns, and inventory vouchers.
  4. Analyze and prepare final accounts for different types of business organizations, including nonprofit organizations, partnership firms, corporate companies, and bank accounts.
  5. Gain proficiency in cost and management accounting techniques and the practical use of accounting software packages like Tally and GNUKhata, including installation, company creation, and the preparation of financial statements.


Detailed Syllabus:


Unit I: Introduction Computerized Accounting: Introduction, Importance, Application, Advantages and Disadvantages, Difference between Manual and Computerized Accounting, Features of Accounting Packages, Creation of Company, Groups, Ledgers, Pre-defined Vouchers, Reports: Account Books, Registers, Statement of Accounts, Bank Reconciliation Statement, Day Book, Cash and Bank Books, Final Accounts of Sole Traders: Trial Balance, Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet.

Unit 2: Accounts with Inventory Creation of Company with Inventory and Stock, Creation of Groups, Stock Categories, Stock Items, Godowns, Units of Measure, Inventory Vouchers, Pure Inventory Vouchers, Creating Purchase Order & Sales Order, Invoicing, Inventory Reports & Statements.

Unit 3: Final Accounts of Business Organizations Preparation of Final Accounts for Nonprofit Organizations, Partnership Firms, Corporate Companies, Bank Accounts.

Unit 4: Cost and Management Accounting Preparation of Stores Ledgers, Job Costing, Common Size Statement, Funds Flow Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Ratio Analysis.

Unit 5: Accounting Software Package: Tally / GNUKhata Features of Accounting Software, Steps in Installation of CAS, Use of Accounting Software, Company Creation, Organization Hierarchy of Account, Account Group of Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Account, Account Masters, Account Groups and Sub Groups, Account Ledger Creation, Voucher Entry, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Account.
